Yuhu, or Jade Lake, a new landmark project in Liangzhu New Town of Hangzhou, opened to the public on Nov 5.
Located in the core business area of Liangzhu New Town in Yuhang district, Yuhu is the result of a transformation and upgrade of the original water system in Yuzhai Port, boasting approximately 150,000 square meters of water area.
It is expected to become a prime leisure destination for local residents. The first and second phases, which opened on Nov 5, feature winding lakeside greenways, modern bridges, the Liangzhu Book Bar, and the unique Yuhu Art Museum on an artificial island in the lake, symbolizing a "jade offering to the heavens".
Connected to the Grand Canal water system, Yuhu is the first large artificial lake in the northern part of Hangzhou. Fountain shows and water curtain projections can be found in the surrounding park, and there is a 440-meter-long water walkway on the west side. The park also features stepped waterfront platforms, allowing visitors to get closer to nature and enjoy the scenic views of the lake and city skyline.
