Registration for the 9th China (Hangzhou) College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition, hosted by the Hangzhou municipal government, opened on Dec 18.

All projects for the competition must be submitted by Jan 27, 2025, with the final competition scheduled for June next year.

One of the highlights of this edition is that sub-venues will be set up in Beijing, Wuhan, and Xi'an, marking the first time the event has been held outside Hangzhou. Participating teams can choose the venue nearest them.

In addition, during the final competition in June, the 2025 Global Young Entrepreneurs Assembly will be held to showcase Hangzhou's innovation and entrepreneurship environment and its deep-rooted culture and history.

Projects ranking in the top 400 and settling in Hangzhou can receive up to 1 million yuan ($137,012) in project funding. University students who graduated in the past five years and current graduates in Hangzhou who set up new businesses and lease office space can receive a maximum of 100,000 yuan in rental subsidies for up to three years.

This nationwide event is the first of its kind to be organized by a local government. Since its inception in 2008, the biennial event has targeted the Chinese mainland while also reaching out to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas universities. It has become a crucial platform for promoting Hangzhou's entrepreneurial environment, attracting global talent, and facilitating the deep integration of projects and industries.
