The Linping district of Hangzhou – capital of East China's Zhejiang province – broke ground on a landmark cultural tourism project, Hangzhou Parallel World, on Jan 18.
Located in the Chaoshan area, known as one of East China's top three plum blossom destinations, the project is set to open in 2026.
Occupying 25.8 hectares with a total investment of 6 billion yuan, the resort integrates Song Dynasty (960-1279) culture, futuristic themes and immersive entertainment.
The resort features three distinct zones: Prosperous Song City, Future World and the Fantasy Rainforest, offering experiences that blend historical charm with advanced technology.
Highlights of the completed complex will include large-scale performances in a 3,000-seat indoor theater, a 6,000-seat outdoor water-light show, sci-fi LED dome flight simulators and interactive attractions such as dark rides and rainforest adventures.
The Parallel World Hotel will cater to both leisure and business travelers, with over 1,200 guest rooms, a 16,000-square-meter international conference center and banquet halls capable of hosting more than 5,000 guests. Additional amenities include indoor and outdoor water parks.
On completion, the resort will serve as a key driver of Linping's cultural and tourism development – enhancing the district's appeal and reputation as a travel destination.
