With 200 days to go, preparations for the 5th World Biosphere Reserves Conference – set to be held in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province – are now in full swing.
While Hangzhou will host the main event, its Lin'an district will take center stage as a key venue and as an ecological study site for experts from 136 countries and regions.
This marks the first time the conference is being held in China, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" philosophy. Lin'an, known for its ecological achievements, will showcase China's environmental progress on the global stage.
Key projects, including the Tianmu Future Valley project – set to host the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Program's international meeting – are advancing rapidly. The site, featuring an eco-museum, will highlight Lin'an's ecological strategies and global conservation efforts.
Infrastructure upgrades – including improved roads and village beautification – are also transforming Lin'an ahead of the event. Yueliangqiao village, a focal point for international delegates, is said to exemplify sustainable rural development by balancing environmental conservation with economic growth.
By leveraging the conference, Lin'an aims to position itself as a model for ecological innovation – telling its green story to the world while fostering sustainable development and global collaboration.
