Crowds eagerly gathered at Hangzhou Zoo to celebrate the 5th birthday of the much-loved giant panda Chunsheng on the morning of March 21.
Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, is home to Chunsheng, whose name in Chinese means born in the spring.
He's staying in Hangzhou to August 2026, under a three-year agreement between the two cities.
This is Chunsheng's second birthday in Hangzhou and to mark it the zookeepers prepared a special five-tiered bamboo pagoda cake, symbolizing his age. Adding to all the fun, each layer was topped with his favorite fruits and treats.
Dedicated panda fans arrived early to join the celebration, wishing Chunsheng good health and happiness in his Hangzhou home.
