At the third UNESCO High-Level Forum for Museums in Hangzhou's Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, Xu Tianjin, director of the Liangzhu Museum, shared his view that "a museum is like a window — once opened, it reveals the landscapes of history and the changing world."

Xu said that museums are like books to be read, not just places to be visited. He encouraged audiences to truly understand the artifacts by preparing in advance, exploring deeply, and reflecting. As technology reshapes the museum experience, Xu emphasized that digital innovation should serve research, education, and public engagement — without losing sight of the artifacts' core value.

Xu also likened museums to restaurants, where diverse "menus" should meet the tastes of different audiences. He stressed the importance of accessibility and inclusiveness, noting that Liangzhu Museum has been recognized for pioneering initiatives to serve people with disabilities, including tactile exhibitions and sign-language services.

Ultimately, Xu hopes museums will become as essential and natural as the air we breathe —gently enriching everyday life. Looking ahead, the Liangzhu Museum's second phase aims to become a dynamic, community-connected cultural heritage hub, offering more opportunities for lifelong learning.

"Museums are everyone's classrooms and spiritual homes," Xu said. "Building them requires effort from us all."
