Hangzhou Port is expected to handle 97,600 inbound and outbound travelers during the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, a 30 percent increase year-on-year. Outbound travelers are projected to number 46,600, while inbound travelers are forecast at 51,000.

Traffic peaks are expected on May 1, 3, and 5. In addition to traditional destinations like Hong Kong, Macao, and Southeast Asia, places such as Qatar, Austria, and Norway are gaining popularity.

Foreign arrivals are also rising, fueled by visa-free policies and instant tax refunds. Hangzhou will welcome an approximate 21,500 foreign travelers, up 51 percent from last year, with strong growth from South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand.

This year, spring break for students overlaps with the holiday, boosting family travel. Total holiday traffic is expected to reach 169,000 vehicles.

Hangzhou Border Inspection Station has strengthened monitoring, promoted cloud-based entry declarations, and set up special services for young travelers to ensure smooth crossings. Customs has streamlined baggage checks for faster clearance.
