Hangzhou Safari Park opened its upgraded Colorful South America zone on April 28 to celebrate its 23rd anniversary.
The new 15,200-square-meter area recreates rainforest habitats and introduces nearly 20 animal species, including red-faced spider monkeys — a rare primate species in China.

The zone features multi-level ecosystems like rainforest canopies, wetlands, and forest floors, with enriched environments such as climbing frames, ponds, and temperature-controlled indoor spaces. The monkey pair — Feifei and Tianzhen — are gradually adjusting to their new home.
A highlight of the zone is its mixed-species habitat model, where animals like capybaras, toucans, anteaters, and raccoons interact naturally. The design promotes animal welfare and gives visitors a more immersive experience.

As the May Day holiday approaches, the zoo invites the public to explore this vibrant new habitat and meet its newest South American residents.
