From May to July, Hangzhou will host the 2025 World Leisure Expo and the 27th West Lake International Expo, with the tagline "City of Events, Shopping Paradise".
This year's West Lake expo focuses on boosting consumption through vibrant citywide events under the "5+6+7" framework.
The "5" stands for five themed consumption festivals across the city:
East: The Global Cross-Border E-commerce Expo at the Hangzhou Grand Convention and Exhibition Center
South: Night markets, football leagues, and camping festivals around Xianghu Lake and Wenyan Old Street
West: Dragon boat races and cultural performances in Xixi Wetland
North: Chinese-style food festival and market at ADM More
Central: A foreign trade goods fair at Hubin pedestrian street
The "6" consumption themes include trendsetting products, exhibitions, food, leisure, performances, and sports. These will be showcased through seven signature activities such as animation festivals, art exhibitions, and culinary showcases.
Innovative models like the instant tax refund services and integrated domestic-foreign trade initiatives aim to enrich Hangzhou's consumer experience and strengthen its reputation as a "shopping paradise".
From May 16–18, the expo's consumer season was held with a large-scale street fair at Hubin pedestrian street, featuring 152 exhibitors, including Zeekr and CFMoto. Meanwhile, a festival of time-honored brands and trade-in events will take place in Xianghu Lake, bringing together over 70 brands from cities like Xi'an and Kunming.
