Hangzhou will enter its Two Sessions period this week, as announced at a press conference held by the city's information office on May 19.
The fourth session of the 12th Hangzhou municipal committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will open on May 21 and run through May 24. The fifth session of the 14th Hangzhou municipal people's congress will follow from May 22 to 25, with a preparatory meeting scheduled for the afternoon of May 21.
Key items on the people's congress agenda include reviewing the city government's work report, economic and social development plans, budget execution, and draft regulations such as the Regulations on Building an Ecological Civilization in Hangzhou. Elections and decisions on key public projects for 2025 will also be made.
The CPPCC meeting will focus on reviewing reports from its standing committee, proposal-related work, and discussing major governance topics alongside the people's congress.
This year's sessions will again feature live-broadcast interview segments: Director Passage on May 22 and Deputy Passage on May 23, where department heads and legislators will answer media questions. The Member Passage for the CPPCC will take place on May 21 with eight delegates, up from six last year.
