A dazzling drone and light show over the Qiantang River on May 25 marked the start of the countdown to the 21st China International Cartoon & Animation Festival (CICAF), set for May 29–June 2 in Hangzhou.

The airborne anime parade featured dynamic drone formations, iconic IPs like Black Myth: Wukong, and AI innovations, blending tradition with cutting-edge tech. On the ground, festival mascots, cosplayers, and robots entertained visitors.

This year's CICAF kicks off a new 20-year chapter with a focus on animation, technology, tourism, and daily life, aiming for all-age, citywide engagement. The main venue at Baima Lake will host immersive events, including the new Watch My 72 Transformations series.

Nightly light shows along the Qiantang River continue through June 2, adding to Hangzhou's vibrant animation atmosphere.
