Zhejiang kicked off its 2025 Cultural and Natural Heritage Day celebrations at the Yujia Mountain Archaeological Museum in Linping district, Hangzhou on June 11.
The event, marking the 20th Heritage Day, aims to promote the newly revised Cultural Relics Protection Law, showcase Zhejiang's rich history, and enhance public awareness of cultural preservation.
At the opening, officials highlighted Zhejiang's achievements in cultural heritage protection during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period. Awards were presented for national and provincial-level museum exhibitions, archaeological discoveries, and innovative museum projects.
Interactive displays and public education zones attracted strong public interest. Popular cultural creative products, legal education on relic protection, and fire safety demonstrations were featured. A highlight was the free public appraisal service, where experts offered guidance on ceramics, paintings, jade, and other collectibles.
The event also included a lecture on the Yujia Mountain site and a signing ceremony for a new Neolithic archaeology education base.
Around 270 cultural activities will be held across the province, encouraging the public to appreciate, protect, and pass on China's cultural and natural treasures.
