The 2025 Hangzhou-Verona cultural fair has opened on Hubin pedestrian street, celebrating the theme "Romantic Cities, Shared Heritage".
Held in the lead-up to the 55th anniversary of China-Italy diplomatic ties, the fair spotlights the growing friendship between Hangzhou and Verona — two cities with several UNESCO World Heritage sites that signed a friendship agreement in 2024.
A vibrant lineup of 108 booths — highlighted by five from Italian artists — brought the essence of Verona to Hangzhou. From mosaic art and immersive light installations to playful sculptures and handcrafted jewelry, the market offered a multisensory blend of creativity and cultural connection. Visitors also enjoyed Italian wine, sweet treats, and postcard writing at a symbolic "love mailbox", sending heartfelt wishes across borders.
The fair has become a vivid expression of Sino-Italian cultural exchange, weaving together traditions, art, and shared values. As the bond between the two cities deepens, Hubin is set to become a lasting bridge for global heritage dialogue and creative collaboration.
