Hangzhou railway stations gears up for summer travel rush

Railway stations in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province is gearing up for a bustling summer travel rush, with an estimated 21.5 million passenger trips during the period from July 1 to Aug 31.
Passenger flows are primarily driven by regular commuting, family visits, and business travel, with family visits, parent-child vacations, and study tours serving as key growth areas. The proportion of students and children traveling is on the rise, while trips to attend sports events, concerts and performances are expected to be strong growth drivers.
The first peak period is expected to be in early July, with the busiest period anticipated in the latter half of August. Daily passenger numbers during the weekend are projected to exceed 390,000 per day, with peak days potentially reaching 420,000 passengers per day.
Long-distance travel is typically concentrated in traditional tourist cities such as Beijing, Xi'an, Qingdao, and Xiamen, as well as popular destinations like Changsha, Chengdu and Wuhan.
Northeastern and northwestern regions known for summer retreats will also attract significant traffic. Short-distance travel, on the other hand, will focus on cities like Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Yangzhou and Huangshan.
The five railway stations in Hangzhou are committed to providing top-flight services to ensure passengers have a pleasant travel experience. The station has launched a wide recruitment drive for young volunteers to offer assistance with inquiries, guidance, and to maintain order for travelers.
