In Japan, the Hangzhou Day series of events themed on Hangzhou AI for A Better World was held at the China Pavilion of the Expo 2025 Osaka on July 13, presenting a vibrant showcase of the innovation and cultural charm of Hangzhou — capital of East China's Zhejiang province.

From cutting-edge technology displays to cultural experiences and international exchanges, the event highlighted Hangzhou's dynamic blend of rich heritage and technological prowess.

At the event, leading Hangzhou-base companies — including Alibaba Cloud, Damo Academy, Hikvision and Supcon — presented AI-powered innovations, from medical AI to smart city solutions and digital industries.

Visitors experienced the latest in robotics, VR and XR devices, showcasing Hangzhou's thriving role in global tech trends.

Cultural displays also took center stage, with hands-on workshops in traditional crafts like woodblock printing, paper umbrella making, as well as in Song Dynasty (960-1279) artistry. A special tourism promotion recommended the new "Hangzhou, A Window to China's 5,000-Year Civilization" route, linking the city's three UNESCO World Heritage sites and iconic scenic spots to Japanese travelers.

Hangzhou also strengthened its ties with Japanese partners, building on strong existing cooperation in business, tourism, education and more. The event attracted Japanese city leaders and enterprise representatives, with ongoing investment collaborations already yielding significant agreements.

Hangzhou's delegation extended a warm invitation to explore the city's unique blend of ancient culture and modern innovation, welcoming global visitors to experience Hangzhou — called "Paradise on Earth" — in the AI era.
