As the summer temperatures continue to soar, Hangzhou Safari Park has turned into a lively watermelon party for its animal residents, local media outlets reported.

The zoo's popular melon feast combines creativity and care — offering refreshing treats to animals while entertaining visitors with their unique eating styles.

Hippos are particularly impressing the folks with their one-bite and gulp skills, instantly devouring entire watermelons. African elephants are showing off their dexterous trunk moves, elegantly handling sliced melons. Meanwhile, giant panda Banban enjoys bite-sized pieces with trademark calmness, while hoolock gibbon Xiaogang peels his slices like a refined foodie.

Red pandas and capybaras offer the most entertaining experience, burying their faces into juicy melon halves or being hand-fed bite-sized pieces. Orangutan Maodou, on the other hand, amazes the crowds by scooping melon pulp with a spoon, showing high primate intelligence, while snub-nosed monkeys share their watermelons in a heartwarming group moment.

The zoo carefully tailors the feeding experience based on each species' needs  — alongside misting, shaded shelters, ice blocks and pools to ensure that the animals stay cool and healthy.

The playful watermelon feeding show has now become a summer highlight for both animals and visitors.
