A total of 146 Chinese and international students from the School of English Studies at Zhejiang International Studies University recently formed 22 teams to research the global communications about China's intangible cultural heritage, or ICH.

Traveling across Zhejiang and beyond, they visited ICH workshops, interviewed inheritors, practiced traditional crafts and produced bilingual videos — injecting youthful energy into centuries-old tradition.

From learning pottery techniques at Jinhua city's Wuzhou Kiln to crafting paper umbrellas in Hangzhou city's Yuhang district and exploring paper-cutting art in Tonglu county, the students immersed themselves in hands-on cultural experiences.

They also visited the Xiling Seal Engravers' Society, located by the West Lake in Hangzhou, discussing how to rejuvenate seal carving for younger audiences.

Leveraging their language skills, the students created bilingual promotional videos, telling Chinese cultural stories to the world.

They also conducted surveys and interviews, producing research reports with actionable recommendations to enhance the international visibility of ICH.

"We are not just learners but torchbearers of cultural heritage — committed to sharing the brilliance of Chinese ICH with the world," said student Zhu Nixiao.
