The triumphant team from the Fuyang district of Hangzhou — capital of East China's Zhejiang province — won the championship of the Hangzhou leg of the 2025 Zhejiang City Basketball League on July 24, crushing Shangcheng district 89-61 in a high-energy final as over 4,000 excited spectators looking on.
In the third-place game earlier that afternoon, Xiaoshan district beat Lin'an district 72-50 in what many called a "fated clash" — as both teams had topped their respective groups before narrowly missing out on the finals.
Fuyang's victory came through sharp tactics and cohesive team play, including tight defense against Shangcheng's top scorer. Despite Shangcheng's comeback attempts that narrowed the gap to just one point, Fuyang maintained composure and sealed the win with a determined rebound and precise ball control.
As cheers echoed throughout the stadium, fans lingered long after the final whistle. "The game was electric. This title truly belongs to Fuyang," exclaimed one fan.
Following the awards ceremony — with Fuyang's players presented with tickets to the upcoming Hangzhou Tennis Open — Olympic gold medalist Sun Yang and CBA-winning coach Wang Bo made surprise appearances at the launch of the Hangzhou all-star team.
With the regional division now complete, the second stage of ZheBA — the City Championship Tournament — is set to kick off in August, promising even more action-packed basketball across Zhejiang.
