The Cultural Exploration Experience Hall at the Zhijiang Branch of Zhejiang Provincial Museum, in Hangzhou — capital of East China's Zhejiang province — reopened on July 29 after undergoing a two-month revamp.

The revitalized hall — spanning 1,000 square meters with seven distinct experiential zones — aims to create an interactive space for audiences of all ages, by utilizing the museum's rich collection of cultural relics and unique heritage from the region.

Going high-tech, it uses immersive digital imagery and VR technology, as well as hands-on traditional craft experiences.

They combine to provide visitors with the opportunity to explore Zhejiang's millennia-old memories from various perspectives — including prehistoric archaeology, the Maritime Silk Road, ancient printing and precious artifacts — unlocking the cultural secrets of the province.

Sun Daimeng, head curator of the experience hall, said that numerous innovative approaches were taken with the content presentation and in particular, highly representative cultural elements of Zhejiang have been incorporated.

"We encourage active participation from visitors, fostering their imagination and creativity," Sun added.

The experience hall opened on July 29 and operates from Tuesday to Sunday, 9 am to 5 pm, with extended hours until 9 pm on Saturdays and Sundays in July and August.
