Emirates Airline's newly launched Hangzhou-Dubai direct flight has quickly become a hit, with economy class tickets sold out for several consecutive days since the service began on July 31.
The daily route, which operates a Boeing 777-300ER, connects Hangzhou International Airport with Dubai International Airport in about 8 hours 45 minutes. Emirates is the fifth major international carrier to add Hangzhou after launching in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
According to Hangzhou airport officials, the new route has maintained an average load factor above 80 percent — well above expectations for a new service. On some days, even business class tickets priced at over 10,000 yuan ($1,392) are sold out, leaving only limited first-class availability.
Industry observers attribute the strong performance to Emirates' global reputation for offering a premium service and its extensive route network, which boasts seamless connections from Dubai to more than 150 destinations across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The airline has also introduced added perks for Zhejiang travelers, including Chinese crew, tailored in-flight meals and complimentary chauffeur transfers within 80 kilometers of Hangzhou airport for first and business-class passengers.
