In a refreshing alternative to walking, as summer heats up locals and tourists have really taken to riding the air-conditioned inner and outer loop buses in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province — a comfy and relaxed way to tour its West Lake without raising a sweat.
The inner loop begins and ends at Liugongyuan Station, circling the lake clockwise, while the outer loop starts at the Bai Causeway, reverses direction and returns — making it perfect for fans of changing views.
Boarding the inner loop, one passenger gleefully described how the bus gently cruises along Qingchun Road, then Nanshan Road, where willow-lined paths and the elegant lake come into view.

Scenes of the graceful Long Bridge, the golden shine of the Leifeng Pagoda, the forest-like charm of Yanggong Causeway and the lotus blooms along Beishan Road unfold through panoramic windows — ideal for photos or quiet reflection.
Other standout routes enhance the sightseeing experience. The WE1314 Love Bus is a themed route visiting romantic legends like the Broken Bridge and connecting deeply with the cultural nostalgia of West Lake.
Loop Buses 51 and 52 are a hop-on–hop-off option circling the lake (clockwise and counterclockwise) at just 5 yuan ($0.70) a ride.
Route 7 and Route 87 are also favorites — weaving through major scenic highlights and perfect for longer routes around the West Lake and Lingyin areas.
Why fans love it:
No walking required — stay cool and comfortable.
Big windows allow for scenic immersion while seated.
Flexible stops let you alight near favorite spots like the Leifeng Pagoda or Broken Bridge.
A slogan on the bus reads: "A short hold on the road is nothing — it's West Lake gently bidding you to linger a little longer." [Photo/tidenews.com.cn]
