An exhibition marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War (1939-45) opened at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on Aug 22.

The show features nearly 400 meters of panels, 570 images, immersive videos and rare artifacts.

A highlight is the special section featuring Ye Qianyu's wartime cartoons, which display over 70 works by the artist born in Tonglu — a county administered by Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province.

Ye, a pioneer of Chinese comics and sketching, used his pen as a weapon during the war, organizing publicity teams and publishing anti-Japanese works.

Featured series include Wartime Chongqing and Escape from Hong Kong, vividly capturing civilian struggles, satirizing the occupiers and celebrating the resilience of the Chinese people.

The exhibition connects Hong Kong and Ye's hometown, Tonglu, where he later donated hundreds of artworks and books, enriching local collections.

The show runs as part of Hong Kong's official commemoration program.
