Hangzhou, in Zhejiang province, draws visitors not only with the scenic beauty of West Lake but also with a lingering cultural spirit that dates back to the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), when the city served as the imperial capital.
The history and tradition of Hangzhou continue to inspire artists today, evident at Lingering Aroma of Song Grace, at the Art News of China art space in Beijing.
Jointly organized by the China National Academy of Painting and the Zhejiang Artists' Association, the exhibition presents paintings and calligraphy by five women artists from Hangzhou. It is part of the academy's ongoing national project highlighting contemporary ink artists from across the country.
