Long known as a hometown of medicine, the city of Hangzhou — capital of East China's Zhejiang province — opened two traditional Chinese medicine, or TCM wellness night markets on Aug 24.
Located in the Qinghefang and Qiaoxi historic areas, they're promoting health culture through immersive experiences.
The events run from 5 pm to 9 pm and feature medical consultations, herbal remedies, TCM cuisine, wellness teas, handicrafts and cultural performances.
The Hangzhou TCM Hospital offers free consultations, health check-ups and hands-on therapies such as ear acupressure, alongside an AI-powered body constitution analyzer.
Visitors can also join interactive workshops in herbal pill-making, try herbal teas for digestion and sleep, practice tai chi and explore historic pharmacies like Huqingyutang and Fanghuichuntang through city walk tours.
At the Qiaoxi venue, the wellness fair combines expert clinics, TCM diet tastings and heritage displays. Free samples of popular plum tea are being distributed, while a local hospital demonstrates TCM therapies such as fire cupping and acupoint patches.
Kids can take part in a Little TCM Doctor program to learn basic herbal knowledge through play.
The initiative is being jointly organized by Hangzhou's culture and health departments as part of efforts to promote the Healthy China strategy, expand TCM-based tourism and create new consumption experiences across the city.
