The Zhejiang main event of China's first National Science Popularization Month 2025 opened at Zhejiang Open University in Hangzhou on Aug 27.

The event showcased applications in smart cities, healthcare, industrial upgrading and green development through youth exchanges, roadshows and science performances.

Hangzhou highlighted its AI strengths, from the City Brain traffic system to digital diagnostics and cancer screening, as well as applications in manufacturing, film and environmental monitoring.

At the opening, 28 new science popularization venues and over 100 AI-themed city walk routes were released, offering the public immersive experiences in robotics, the metaverse and smart mobility.

The event also unveiled Zhejiang's science communication talent lists and an AI expert service group of 100 specialists. Following the launch ceremony, participants visited Hangzhou's Wensan digital life block, marking the first stop of the city walk routes.
