Ondrej Dostal, a member of the European Parliament, said the V-Day commemoration was a reminder of the pursuit of peace after attending the gathering in Beijing marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. He emphasized that war should not be an instrument for resolving international disputes and called for stronger friendship among peoples from different countries.
