The 2025 China Festival opened at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo on Sept 6, with East China's Zhejiang province hosting a dedicated exhibition area highlighting cultural and technological innovation.
The exhibits featured a mix of smart technology, intangible cultural heritage, and cuisine inspired by the Song Dynasty (960–1279). Hangzhou, the provincial capital, drew attention with interactive digital art displays as well as VR and AR experiences. Local tech firms such as Unitree Robotics and Deep Robotics also brought their latest robotic products.
The Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yueju Opera Troupe performed traditional Yueju Opera, receiving warm applause from the audience. Other participating cities — including Ningbo, Jiaxing, Shaoxing, and Taizhou — offered activities such as traditional handicraft workshops, traditional costume try-ons, and Zhejiang food tastings.
The two-day event served as a platform for cultural exchange between China and Japan. Local Chinese community organizations, friendship groups, and foreign diplomats based in Japan attended the festival.
