The finals of a global cross-border e-commerce innovation contest concluded on Sept 10 in Hangzhou — capital of East China's Zhejiang province — spotlighting trends that are emerging in cross-border e-commerce.
The competition, launched in May, attracted hundreds of projects from more than 40 industries across China, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and South Korea. Ten standout teams made it through to the Hangzhou finals, presenting solutions that ranged from smart manufacturing and the digital trade to rural revitalization and the pet economy.
Among this year's standout entries were projects that combined innovation with strong market potential.
One of them involved entrepreneur Wang Jiaming and his team, who developed a digital-human translation system to support employment for people with disabilities, while helping rural produce reach overseas consumers.
Elsewhere, entrepreneur Zhang Qingwei and his team focused on incubating pet products, mobilizing several Chinese brands to position themselves in global online retailer Amazon's leading niche categories.
The organizers emphasized that the event was not only a stage for competition, but was also a platform for real-world business growth, highlighting Hangzhou's growing appeal to global talent.
A digital mobile payment company based in Hangzhou has also pledged ongoing support for entrepreneurs — from cross-border payment services and global platform matchmaking, to supply chain resources in key industrial clusters.
