The final evaluation for the 6th Zhejiang Specialty Souvenirs list was held on Sept 29 in Hangzhou — capital of East China's Zhejiang province — bringing together 92 shortlisted products from 959 companies across the region.
Sixty products will ultimately make it into this year's official catalog.
At the Hangzhou event, judges scored entries based on six criteria: Regional character, quality, safety, cultural depth, value and convenience.
Cutting-edge tech products drew wide attention, including AR glasses from Hangzhou-based tech company Rokid, which create a 300-inch virtual screen and BrainCo Technology's Easleep brain-computer sleep device.
Traditional crafts also impressed. Standout items included handmade qipao dress buttons — combining bamboo weaving with embroidery and glass engraving artwork — and tea and coffee sets blending porcelain, copper and fragrant designs. Local delicacies from Hangzhou and other Zhejiang cities — including lotus root powder, small steamed buns and herbal supplements — added flavor to the affair.
Organizers said the selection served as a golden business calling card for Zhejiang, reflecting its innovation, craftsmanship and cultural heritage. The final list of 60 souvenirs will be announced soon.
Herbal supplements are a hit at the evaluation. They're made by Fang Hui Chun Tang, one of China's oldest pharmacies with a history of over 300 years. [Photo/tidenews.com.cn]
