What happens when the elegance of Chinese ink meets the flowing strokes of Arabic calligraphy? Visitors can now find out at the Liangzhu Civilizational Dialogue: China-UAE Calligraphy Art Exhibition, which opened on Oct 12 at the Zhejiang Art Museum as one of the 3rd Liangzhu Forum's cultural activities.

The exhibition brings together over 100 calligraphy and seal-engraving works, showcasing the poetic beauty of Chinese characters alongside the geometric grace of Arabic script.

Highlights include the writings of Confucius and Laozi beside Arabic proverbs and poetic verses, all reinterpreted through the expressive artistry of Chinese and Arab calligraphers. The pieces reveal a shared philosophical depth and aesthetic ideal — harmony in diversity.

"Seeing Chinese and Arabic calligraphy side by side feels magical," said a visitor surnamed Mao, who attended the exhibition with his daughter. "Even though the languages differ, the wisdom they carry feels the same."

As a major cultural event of the Liangzhu Forum, the exhibition symbolizes cross-civilizational dialogue through art. "Through ink and script, we hope to deepen exchange between the Chinese and Arab civilizations under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative," said a representative of the museum.

The exhibition runs until Oct 26 in Halls 11–13 of the museum.
