The archaeological exhibition Myth of Rice Cultivation opened on Oct 30 at the China Cultural Center in Bangkok, celebrating the deep cultural ties between China and Thailand.

Organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the China Cultural Center in Bangkok, the exhibition marks the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations and highlights the shared agricultural roots that link the Yangtze River basin in China and the Chao Phraya River basin in Thailand.

Featuring four thematic sections — Creating Myths: Liangzhu Civilization, Tracing Myths: Shangshan and Kuahuqiao, Nurturing Myths: Hemudu Culture, and Sharing Myths: The East Asian Rice Culture Circle — the exhibition explores how rice cultivation has shaped the spiritual and cultural foundations of both regions.

Through artifact replicas, archaeological visuals, and interactive displays, the exhibition brings to life the story of rice as a symbol of civilization, belief, and cultural exchange. A global online version of the exhibition was launched simultaneously, using symbolic line art and totemic imagery to present the spiritual essence of rice culture.

Chinese and Thai scholars also held academic dialogues on rice archaeology, deepening understanding between the two civilizations.

Running until Nov 20, the exhibition adds a cultural highlight to the "Golden Jubilee of China-Thailand Friendship" and continues Zhejiang's mission of promoting cultural dialogues and mutual learning worldwide.
