As the Spring Festival travel rush enters its peak period, major railway stations across Hangzhou have switched to round-the-clock operations to ensure a warm and smooth journey home for millions of passengers.
Railway authorities expect about 5.25 million people to depart before the holiday, with Feb 13 forecast as the busiest day, handling around 410,000 visits. From Feb 11 to 14, key hubs including Hangzhou East Railway Station, Hangzhou West Railway Station, Hangzhou South Railway Station and Hangzhou Railway Station are operating overnight, keeping their lights on for late-night departures and arrivals.
Stations have introduced a range of passenger-friendly services, including free haircuts, festive calligraphy gifts, reading corners, hot ginger tea and expanded charging facilities. Special ticket policies for graduating students and improved exit and boarding efficiency measures are also in place.
Behind the scenes, railway staff continue to work long hours to keep the trains running safely. For many travelers, whether departing at dawn or arriving after midnight, the journey home — no matter how long — remains the most cherished part of the season.
