Zhejiang's first-quarter GDP up 6 percent

Zhejiang's GDP reached 2.3684 trillion yuan (about $347 billion) in the first quarter, up 6.0 percent year-on-year.

Value-added industrial output from industrial enterprises above the designated size, or those with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan, rose 8.3 percent from a year earlier. Of the province's 37 major industrial categories, 30 posted growth.

Among key sectors, value-added output in computers, communications, and other electronic equipment manufacturing jumped 18.8 percent, followed by automobiles at 17.6 percent, electrical machinery at 9.8 percent, and general equipment at 9.3 percent.

Value-added output in the services sector increased 5.7 percent in the quarter. Leasing and business services led the gains with growth of 10.7 percent, while information transmission, software, and information technology services rose 10.5 percent. The accommodation and catering sector expanded 6.6 percent, and wholesale and retail grew 5.9 percent.

Retail sales of consumer goods totaled 966.5 billion yuan in the first quarter, up 4.0 percent year-on-year. Goods retail sales rose 3.7 percent to 867.9 billion yuan, while catering revenue increased 6.9 percent to 98.6 billion yuan.

Per capita disposable income for all residents reached 23,611 yuan, up 5.0 percent from a year earlier. For urban residents, per capita disposable income rose 4.4 percent to 27,137 yuan. For rural residents, per capita disposable income reached 15,934 yuan, up 5.9 percent in nominal terms. The per capita disposable income ratio between urban and rural residents narrowed by 0.03 from a year earlier to 1.70.
