Around 12,000 women runners hit the streets of Hangzhou on April 26, as the 2026 Hangzhou Women's Half Marathon kicked off at Wulin Square.
China's first women-only race circling West Lake, the course linked iconic landmarks including Broken Bridge, Bai Causeway, Su Causeway and Leifeng Pagoda, before continuing along the Qiantang River, blending Jiangnan elegance with the city's modern skyline.
Local runner Tang Xiaofang clinched the title in 1:13:50, while Wang Linying finished second. Tang's sister secured third place, putting both sisters on the podium. The top two finishers both broke the event record.
Designed exclusively for women, the race featured an all-female support team, including 29 pacers and 43 medical runners, ensuring safety and professional race services throughout.
In addition to the race, a series of side events — from charity clothing drives to local food giveaways and interactive fan zones — added a festive touch, turning the marathon into a celebration of fitness, community and female empowerment.
