Traditional crafts from Chun'an county, home to Qiandao (Thousand Island) Lake, are making their first appearance at the Artigiano in Fiera Summer Preview 2026 in Italy, held from May 29 to June 2.
The exhibition brings together dozens of handcrafted works by eight local artisans, showcasing the cultural heritage and craftsmanship of eastern China to a global audience.
The collection features a diverse range of traditional skills, including wood carving, hemp embroidery, plant dyeing, bamboo weaving, and straw craftsmanship. Many works draw inspiration from the landscapes, folk traditions, and fishing culture of Qiandao Lake.
The Milan showcase reflects Chun'an's efforts to blend heritage preservation with contemporary design and international market trends.
By bringing their traditional craftsmanship to one of Europe's leading handicrafts exhibitions, local artisans hope to expand global recognition of Chinese intangible cultural heritage and create new opportunities for cultural exchange and creative industries.
The exhibition marks another step in Hangzhou's broader push to promote cultural innovation and share traditional Chinese craftsmanship with audiences worldwide.
