China's State Council Information Office organized a visit for nearly 40 foreign and domestic journalists to East China's Zhejiang province to report on its advances in scientific and industrial innovation, highlighting the region's rapidly growing role as a national hub for new technologies.

During the trip, journalists from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Japan, and Singapore attended a press meeting in Hangzhou, where Vice Governor He Zhongwei briefed the media and answered questions on Zhejiang's innovation policies and development progress.

The journalists showed strong interest in Zhejiang's innovation ecosystem, with many saying they were drawn by the province's dynamic tech growth in recent years. Zhejiang reported GDP growth of 5.5 percent in 2025, above the national average, while its high-tech industries expanded by 7.9 percent.

Artificial intelligence is a key driver of industrial transformation. Zhejiang's AI core industry revenue exceeded 700 billion yuan ($103.4 billion) in 2025, supported by globally competitive models such as DeepSeek and Qwen. The province is also expanding applications in robotics, smart devices, AI glasses and connected vehicles, aiming to build a leading AI innovation hub.

Following the briefing, journalists visited industrial parks, companies and universities in Hangzhou and Ningbo to observe firsthand how Zhejiang is advancing core technology development, research commercialization and innovation ecosystem building.
