Hangzhou, the provincial capital of Zhejiang, has unveiled its new "Tour the Future, Take Tech Home" city tourism brand. This aims to turn cutting-edge innovation into a new attraction for visitors through interactive experiences, tech products and educational travel.

Launched on July 30, the initiative introduced Hangzhou's Top 10 Tech Souvenirs of 2026, 20 additional shortlisted products, 20 new technology attractions, and 20 themed tech study-tour routes. An inbound tech tourism platform and a dedicated Taobao section for Hangzhou-made tech products also went online.

The featured tech souvenirs include AI-powered wearable devices, AR smart swimming goggles, AI recording cards, DNA data-storage "time capsules", pet translators and AI-inspired cultural collectibles. They offer visitors a new way to take home Hangzhou's innovation.

The newly released technology attractions span AI exhibition centers, robotics hubs, smart computing facilities, VR cultural experiences, future farms and digital content production bases. This highlights how technology is reshaping daily life, industry and culture.

To attract families and young learners, Hangzhou also launched 20 hands-on tech study tours combining visits to leading universities, AI companies and research centers with experiences such as robotics, brain-computer interfaces, drone technology and AI creation.

Many routes also integrate cultural landmarks including the West Lake, the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, and the Grand Canal.

As part of the program, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Hefei in Anhui province will jointly promote cross-city technology tourism to international visitors.

Hangzhou aims to attract more than 10 million tech-themed visitors annually, including over 100,000 inbound travelers, and generate more than 20 billion yuan ($2.96 billion) in related tourism and consumer spending.
