The "Liangzhu Civilization" in Dialogue with the World, a supporting event of the fourth Liangzhu Forum, was held at Zhejiang International Studies University in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Oct 19. Diplomats, international scholars, and Chinese and international students gathered to discuss cultural heritage preservation and exchanges among civilizations.

Jose Fernando Bermudez Cendales, charge d'affaires of the Colombian Embassy in China, said Liangzhu jade artifacts, rice fields, and large-scale dams reflected the ingenuity of ancient people and their respect for nature. He added that friendship grows not only between countries but also between individuals, making youth dialogue a valuable investment in the future.

Chilean Ambassador to China Oscar Alfonso Sebastian Silva Navarro highlighted the long history of cultural exchanges between China and Chile, saying mutual understanding and learning among people are essential to lasting bilateral ties.

During a youth dialogue, participants discussed world heritage, ways to bring cultural heritage to life, and the role of young people in promoting mutual understanding. Cultural and Educational Counselor of the Embassy of Iraq in China Mohanad N. Al-Shroofy drew parallels between the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City and the ancient city of Ur in Iraq, calling for more Iraqi students to visit China and experience its civilization firsthand.

The event concluded with Chinese and international students singing Auld Lang Syne in different languages. Participants also explored traditional Chinese arts, including calligraphy, paper-cutting, and clay sculpture, sampled Hangzhou snacks and tea, and tried making traditional patterned rice cakes.
