The ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE) has opened in Shanghai and will run until Nov 10. According to the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce, the province is sending more than 11,000 purchasing companies and 44,000 professional visitors to the event.

At the "Vibrant Zhejiang" cultural exhibition area, 48 time-honored brands and intangible cultural heritage projects from across the province are showcasing traditional crafts and products representing eight traditional industries.

Hangzhou embroidery artist Chen Shuiqin is showcasing her work at the expo for the first time, hoping to introduce the traditional craft to more international visitors. The exhibition also highlights the integration of cultural heritage and technology. Hangzhou-based Cereblink is demonstrating a brain-computer interface that enables users to control a flexible hand exoskeleton through a wristband, providing rehabilitation training for people with impaired hand function.

Other highlights include performances of Kunqu Opera, Yueju Opera, and Wuju Opera, products from technology companies such as BrainCo, and an immersive XR exhibition based on the production Swords Into Plowshares.

Yiwu is showcasing its role as a global small commodities hub through a dynamic model illustrating how goods from across China are gathered in the city and shipped worldwide. The city has organized 4,441 buyers to attend, while eight local companies will exhibit independently.

Zhejiang will also host nearly 20 supporting events, including procurement matchmaking and investment promotion activities.
