Introduction:
Split is the second-largest city of Croatia and the capital of Split-Dalmatia. It is the largest harbor, shipbuilding and shipping center in Dalmatia. It lies on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea and is spread over a central peninsula and its surroundings. An intraregional transport hub and popular tourist destination, the city is linked to the Adriatic islands and the Apennine peninsula. It consists of a central peninsula and the surrounding coasts and has over a dozen satellite towns.
Split is one of the oldest cities in the region, with a history of more than 1,700 years. It is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Southeast Europe.
