Introduction:

Dresden is the capital city of the Free State of Saxony in Germany. It is an important cultural, administrative and business center of Eastern Germany. 

It is situated in a valley in the south-east of Germany, on the River Elbe. With a total population of 1.25 million, it is one of the large cities in Germany. The city was the capital of the Kingdom of Saxony for a long time, and boasts centuries of prosperous history and brilliant culture and art, as well as many exquisite baroque buildings. It is known as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
