Situated in Tiyuchang Road, a busy street of Hangzhou, the Hangzhou Sports Center covers an area of 40 mu (2.67 hectares). It integrates competitive sports, social activities, fitness, entertainment, performances, business events and amateur training.

The sports center, formerly the Zhejiang’s People stadium, was built in the 1930s. It has been managed by the Hangzhou sports development group since November 2007. The center underwent two renovations in 2003 and 2007 to meet the needs of competitions and other purposes, and it currently has a track-and-field ground with 12,000 seats and a standard plastic track. Beyond that, the world-standard ground is equipped with professional lighting and sound devices, large electronic displays, a standard football turf and other related equipment. It is able to hold provincial or higher level soccer tournaments and municipal or higher level track meets.

Responded to the national fitness program, the sports center will provide venues, organizational planning, officiating and other technology services for various sports meetings. In additional to sports events, it holds various business events, performances and concerts. The Hangzhou Sports Center is also an amateur training center for the city’s youth football team.
