The oldest Christian church in Hangzhou, Sicheng Church is located at 132 Jiefang Road. Designed in the shape of a cross, it was built in 1927 to commemorate Zhang Chengzhai, the first Chinese pastor. Its prominent eaves and window lattices are reminiscent of traditional Chinese gardens. This combination of Chinese and Western architecture is unique for Chinese churches. It reflects the integration of Christian and Chinese cultures in Hangzhou.
