Dadou Road
Dadou Road runs along the east side of the Grand Canal from the Daguan Bridge to the Jiangzhang Bridge. The architecture along the road has been well preserved, and includes Xiangji Temple’s ancient stone pagoda and the State Reeled Silk Warehouse, as well as many dwellings from the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and the early years of the Republic of China (1912-1949). The street is distinguished by its many examples of Buddhist cultural exchange and its lively arts and culture fairs, inns, vegetarian restaurants, and teahouses, all steeped in the local culture of the Grand Canal. Dadou Road has been honored with the title “First Street of the Grand Canal.”
