The 2018 Hangzhou International Women's Marathon, a sports gala for female runners, kicked off in Xiasha district of the city, Zhejiang province, on Oct 28.

The competition included a half marathon and a mini marathon and attracted around 10,000 female runners from 21 countries and regions across the world, including the United States, Japan and South Korea.

To make sure every runner presented at their best, the organizers of the event designed a flower-dotted runway that not only brought contestants a visual feast but also allowed them to release pressure both psychically and mentally.

Other highlights of the event included a running group and a 5G live broadcast online.

Ethiopian athlete Sintayehu Tilahun Getahun claimed gold in the half marathon.

It is hoped that the sports event will help display the beauty of modern Chinese women, not only in outer appearance, but in inner strength.
