Construction for the venue of the upcoming 2018 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province has been basically completed, local media reported.

The venue, which is located at the tennis hall of the Hangzhou Olympic and International Expo Center, or "Little Lotus" as it is known to locals, has been especially constructed for the championships, which is to be held from Dec 8 to 16 and will be the largest and most high-profile international sports event ever organized by the city.

While construction has finished for the main pool and its over 8,000 seats, the warm-up pool is expected to be completed in early November.

The city will also witness the opening of the 5th FINA World Water Sports Conference during the period of the championships, with an expected attendance of over 3,000 guests.
