Sir Run Run Shaw hospital to set up branch in Gongshu district

Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital (SRRSH) affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine will set up a branch in Gongshu district, Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, local media reported on Dec 12.
Covering an area of 184,000 square meters, the 1,500-beds branch, which will be constructed by the end of next year, is set to drive the development of health industry in the district and introduce high-end equipment in medical treatment and testing, health management, and mobile healthcare.
The branch is expected to be built into a comprehensive clinic as well as a teaching and research base with first-class equipment and services, so as to meet the different medical needs of the residents in the district and neighboring areas, said a local official from Gongshu district.
Established in 1994 through the generous donation of Sir Run Run Shaw, a renowned Hong Kong businessman and philanthropist, SRRSH is the first public hospital in China accredited by the Joint Commission International, a US-based organization for medical quality evaluation.
Over the years, the hospital has been developed into a tertiary, research-oriented general hospital in Zhejiang province with 1,200 beds and 29 clinical specialties.
