Walk honors international day against drug abuse

A walk honoring the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking took place in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on June 26, with 500 people participating.
The 9-kilometer trek, which kicked off in the downtown area, showcased Hangzhou residents' determination and their resolve to help achieve the goal of a society free of drug abuse.
"I gained a deeper understanding of drug abuse and its ill effects on a person and society as a whole after attending the event," said a college student Zhou Nina, who had only seen anti-drug campaigns on television before.
The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is an International Day promoted by United Nations, in order to fight against substance abuse as well as the unlawful trade in drugs. It is annually observed on June 26 all over the world by millions of people.
