Westlake University, China's first private university aimed at cultivating high-level personnel in advanced technology, launched a global recruitment campaign on July 12 for postdoctoral research fellows -- both Chinese and international talents.

The research-oriented university, originating from the Westlake Institute for Advanced Study, was approved by the Education Ministry last February and held its founding ceremony on Oct 20, 2018 in Hangzhou, the capital city of eastern Zhejiang province.

Westlake University operates a number of independent laboratories. Officials say every laboratory is empowered to build its own team.

A total of 69 laboratories have opened their door to international talent this time, including 30 in the School of Life Sciences, 13 in the School of Science and 26 in School of Engineering.

Applicants should be under 35 and have obtained doctoral degrees within three years. Experience in related industries, dedication to science, good communications skills and a good teamwork spirit are preferred attributes.

Eligible candidates are entitled to enjoy salary and other benefits according to individual research ability and relevant regulations.

Meanwhile, the laboratories will also help enrolled candidates to declare post-doctoral related projects and support their individual career development based on their interests and needs.
