Xiaoshan district of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province is doubling down on efforts to develop a cultural industry driven by digital music and transform itself into an innovative city of music technology.

The 2019 China Digital Music Industrial Development Summit, held in Hangzhou on July 15, aims to promote the integration of music and technological innovations through digitalization.

To encourage the development of musical companies and talents, an array of supportive policies were issued at the summit, ranging from financial subsidies to talent rewards.

Xiaoshan aims to create a sound ecosystem for the music industry by introducing a number of major projects, said an official from the district.

A research institute focusing on China's digital music industry was also unveiled. The institute will carry out projects related to the digital music industry, cultivate talents and publish industry research results.

The Xiaoshan Park of Zhejiang National Music Industrial Base, established in Qianjiang Century City last January, is dedicated to building a network of public platforms, training bases and investment and entrepreneurial centers.

Over 10 music-related enterprises, including NetEase Cloud Music, an online music streaming service under Chinese internet company NetEase Inc, have settled in the base, becoming new driving forces behind the development of the district's digital culture industry.

It is expected that by 2022, the base will gather over 200 music-related enterprises and attract 2,000 high-end talents.
